Learn 2 Lean
Pre-requisite
Mc1 and 2 helpful but we can help those who haven't as we will have two days with you.
Who's it for
Those wanting to develop skill and confidence and have a lot of fun on a track where space and development is the main goal. As this is over two days it will give you an unique opportunity to improve much more when you know the track better.
Gear
Riding gear only, motorcycles will be provided
Duration
2 days
£1600 at Brands Hatch Circuit
£1300 at Cadwell Park
£1300 at Mallory Park Racing Circuit
Safety Briefing & Induction
Days are limited to only 60 riders total. 3 groups of 20 on a track that can take 40 at a time. 20 riders out max at each time. New Daytona or Street triple machines (Could also be a mixture of both) We will show you the track, explain how we will ride it, go through flags etc. We will then introduce you to your motorcycles and get you out on track for some riding drills . We will learn who you are, what you want and help you have great fun riding our brand new bikes. This series of events which are two days each is designed to help you relax in to track riding and use the venue as a huge playground to have fun, develop and test out the techniques which we teach in our machine control days.
Machine control counter steering awareness
This involves key drills to make you aware and better at using steering confidently and simply. Applying good body position and speed to your direction changing ability. This section will nearly always divide groups quickly as some will be able to lean fast and others will be leaning slow. Whilst we will be doing our best to develop everyone, those who can lean fast early will gain more speed and feel the track is easier than those who can't yet lean that quick. This however is why we are doing all this. Once we know it's an issue, we can make each run a lesson to develop this area until you get it and then we move on.
Stability confidence and agility
This is where we get you better at allowing the bike to do its job so you can do yours. We will get you trying stuff you normally wouldn't, it's going to be fun on a bike that isn't yours to worry about.
Braking harder and faster
These sections are for developing your ability to brake harder and faster than you think you can. Built up in small steps we will help you develop your awareness of the time it takes you to slow down and help you become more efficient at it.
Cornering position on track
This will be all about where to aim for and when to get there. This is a very important section in order reduce your effort and reduce time lost to mistakes. Some riders are good at getting the line right, others need showing. Once you find the correct line you will find speed comes effortlessly and you will be able to understand why one line is better than another.
Braking in corners
The ability to brake late and turn becomes very valuable on a track. The confidence it inspires also demonstrates how much grip is available.
Body position for improved cornering speed
At this stage we will be moving to developing your ability to move on the machine. For some with the correct gear this will also include Kneedown as a gauge of clearance. Ultimately we will focus on speed and fun rather than hanging off for no reason.
Perfecting overtakes, following lines and learning to spot areas of weakness
This is a fantastic stage to get to and will mostly be day 2. Here we are doing more laps with less breaks at a rhythm you can maintain so that we can develop planning and experimentation in your lines to test if there is a faster way. A complex stage of this is to use the throttle to develop late or early bend apex's which can develop improved lines in and out of corners. Following riders who are constant in order to help you test different lines is a fantastic way to learn fast. This would normally only happen in a race situation where riders are very similar in ability. On track we often find this is not the case so we will provide you with this chance to develop.
The two days could end up being totally different!!
I have learned to give an overview of what our plans are and explain what we hope to cover with you all over these events. Experience has taught me that if I feel it's not working or the group needs something else, I will scrap all this in a moment in order to do what you need to do. The reason courses develop is we always respond to the needs of the riders who turn up. We could easily get riders who are so much better than we expected and so we will do more advanced stuff with them. If we get those who have much more basic needs we will cater for them too. In short, these will be two days with loads of space to help you the way you need.
